The students and staff at Belmont Hills Elementary were so pleased to have well-known children’s book author Carmen Agra Deedy visit our school on Wednesday, February 13! Mrs. Deedy spent the day sharing stories about her Cuban heritage, her family, and what it was like growing up in America. The students just loved her animated storytelling style, as she she switched seamlessly between English and Spanish. During her visit, Mrs. Deedy also unveiled her newest book, Martina the Beautiful Cockroach. Students are still clamoring to reserve a copy of the book, which tells the story of a beautiful cockroach named Martina, who is searching for her perfect husband. Who knew a cockroach could be so entertaining?
